Happy New Year: 2017

I’m sick. Nothing too serious, just a sinus infection that won’t go away. After two weeks of medicine it is still holding on a slowing me down. I know when I’m sick when I sit in front of the computer for hours and don’t accomplish anything. There are days when I get caught up in all the new posts on G+ and all the art and gaming stuff that gets posted. When there is work to be done though I can turn that off and jump right into making tokens. So when I have say here for more than 30 minutes and haven’t started work I know I’m not feeling well.

For the past 2-3 years I have had almost back to back requests for tokens. I’m not complaining. If you have to have a problem these days having too much work is one that you should be upset about. I am upset that I have temporarily fallen behind on my growing workload. If you are one of the current group waiting on tokens I am sorry that I haven’t managed to make any over the past two weeks. I’m sure that I am getting better and I will make at least two tokens today.

I love what I do. I appreciate all the support from my family, friends and the gamers who keep me busy. Whether you are just now finding out about my work or you are a long running patron I appreciate the work you allow me to do. I am pretty damn lucky. Thank you.

2016 was a great year work wise. I don’t have an exact number but I’m guessing I made over 500 tokens and released plenty of new packs. It was also a year that saw the loss of some amazing people. Prince was one of the people that had a lot of influence on me in the 80’s and 90’s, I typically don’t mourn the passing of people I don’t personally know, but Prince was an exception. There were many others, too many to list and everyone is already aware of them.

2017. Let me start by saying that I’m an optimist, most of the time. Sure I’m grumpy about movies and bad food, but generally speaking about life I like to keep positive. I’m unsure about this year. Work wise I already have a backlog of jobs that will see me through March and by March I will have work scheduled til May. In addition I have some new ideas that I will hopefully share this spring. Sadly I have many concerns about the state of our government and much of the populace. I hope that many of these concerns can be overcome and that others become non-issues all together.

Movies: I did manage to see several movies this past holiday season. Here is my worthless opinion about them.

Magnificent 7: Ok, not great. Pretty stupid actually. 5/10
Reacher: For the Second movie in the Reacher franchise it feels like the last. They need a new younger and meaner Reacher. 2/10
The Arrival: Long, not really boring if you like the idea of science and so forth, could have been a bit tighter. 6/10
Passegners: You get exactly what you think you are going to get. I enjoyed this. I like Chris Pratt. 7/10
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children: This one took a while to get going, and the lead actor (Enders Game Star) was kind of the weakest actor of the bunch. Unique and fun, yet dark. 7/10
Rogue 1: I just don’t like Star Wars movies anymore. I think I will like this one more on a second viewing, it was not the movie I was expecting. 5/10
The Accountant: This one was the winner of the bunch. Well written, well acted. A unique story. 9/10
Valley of Violence: Didn’t know this one existed… for good reasons. A western with a reluctant hero, blah blah blah, doesn’t know what it wants to be. 2/10

To all my patrons friends and family, thank you for making 2016 great. I’m looking forward to all the work, games and great times ahead of us.

Any chance we’ll see some more modern (or pulpy) packs in the future?

I don’t have any in the que. I’d be happy to make some but it usually comes down to what people are paying me to make. If you can get some like minded people together and chip in towards a set that would be the best way to get more. I’ve had people band together to add to the Space Opera pack with much success. Usually I will make 20 tokens for the price of 15 if they are of the same theme. Thanks for the post.

Hi Devin, I’d certainly be willing to contribute to the ‘pulpy’ pack request. My fellow gamers and myself are desperate to find some decent 1920s investigator tokens for our Cthulhu. Would be very happy to put some cash into even a generic spread of these.

It times like these I wish I had some way for people to pay into an idea. Like Patreon or something.

If you guys want to make individual requests I will combine them into a “pulpy” pack. I will even go as far as to say all “Pulpy Token” requests will be $6 each instead of the standard $10. That goes for characters as well as monsters that are ordered using the word “pulpy” in the description. So tell your friends and your gaming groups. Turn around for new requests right now are around March.

How do I access all the tokens I purchased? I was able to get a couple today, but the others must have been done through Paypal Only…?

    1. devinnight says:

You can log into your account if you set one up when checking out.
If not I can help you get any tokens that you ordered previously.
I will follow up with an email.
      Thanks

Holy smokes, where do I get that emperor token?

    1. devinnight says:

I made this one last December, so it won’t appear in a token set til early 2018.

I THE EMPEROR OF MANKIND APPROVE OF THIS TOTALLY BADASS TOKEN OF MYSELF. MY SON YOU NOW OFFICIALLY HAVE MY BLESSING, GO FORTH INTO THE WORLD AND BE AWESOME. YEY.
