Hey everybody.
I was super busy for the past two months. Token work is steady but what really soaked up almost all my time was preparing for my wife’s 40th birthday. I wanted to do something special for her and she has wanted to do an Escape Room with the girls for close to a year now. So I spent a lot of time coming up with a plan and making an Escape Room experience for her and the girls. It involved some sleuthing, puzzle solving and a bit of theatrics. It all went off this past Sunday, pretty smoothly thanks to the help of a lot of great people.
So here are some not-token related pics from the party.
The first set of images are the pieces being built for the room. I had some large puzzles to build and had help from my friend Matt and his shop full of awesome tools. After things were built it was off to Shane’s house for painting and detailing.
On her actual birthday she received a box. We had been getting packages from a company that sent out monthly mysteries, so the box wasn’t completely unexpected. What was unexpected was that the package had a handwritten letter to her.
A few days later she was off chasing the men who abducted her girls and husband. This didn’t go exactly as planned since I had to leave in the van. I left the front door locked when I meant to leave it open. She went through the garage and saw my van was gone. Ruining the illusion. This might have been for the best since seeing the house was broken into and we were missing may have put too much stress on her.
After obtaining a spare key from the bartender down the street she made it inside and quickly found the girls locked in a cage. She rescued them and continued on deeper into the cultists hideout. Eventually finding the puzzle room of the Head Cultist. Daryl was there to help guide the experience and Kelly took photographs along the way. Meanwhile the Head Cultist and his lackeys watched on from up above.
Several cultists enjoyed the stage area while Bridgette and the girls suffered below in a dark and mystery filled room.
Finally all the puzzles were solved and Bridgette was armed with the three words that would disrupt the summoning. She headed upstairs with the girls in tow. As soon as she saw the stage she uttered the three words. Something was wrong though and the head cultists ordered his people to grab her and bring her on stage. A short (and unscripted) chase scene ended with her and the girls on-stage where she learned that her efforts only helped the less than capable cultists. A demon was summoned and Myka got to choose it’s form. Surprise! It’s the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
Afterwords we all went down to Dempsey’s for dinner, drinks, and a little birthday cake.
Looks like that was a lot of fun. The work might have been long and hard but it looks like the payoff was worth it.
On a side note, do you plan on releasing the battleground token recolors for sale on this site or roll20 in the future? Or are the recolors going to stay exclusive to them?
Thank you. It was so worth it.
Those tokens are exclusive to Battlegrounds.
